Sounds like an interesting suggestion Statia is making there – I definitely found the tourism and hospitality students really inspiring!

On behalf of U of Guelph’s Tourism & Hospitality students, thanks Vicky for being our Exec-in-Residence. They are a Net-savvy bunch, and appreciated hearing from an expert. Too bad they couldn’t all attend CeC. Perhaps the student segment could link in somehow to next year’s event – like a UofG student satellite site. Something to think about.

Thanks Stephen and Vicky. I am very pleased (and relieved) that CeC 09 has been rather well received. Compliments keep coming in via email and we will soon know the results of the evaluation surveys.

ITB. Unfortunately, I will not be attending ITB this year due to other commitments. I am planning to be in Marseille in October and Orlando in November. Also, I might be organizing another event in the Spring (which I will tell you about as soon as it looks like a go). Vicky, I think I might go to the Google Analytics workshop of eMetrics in Toronto, so I hope to around that time. Hope you have some time for tea, beer or coffee. Saludos,

I’ll let Vicky answer her well deserved plaudits directly but, comparing her experience of attending CEC directly and my attempt to cover the last Phocuswright conference vicariously, it confirms to me that still nothing beats attending these events in person.

When I wrote the Phocuswright piece, for example, it was quite difficult to know whether the narrative I constructed was a) accurate and b) whether it would have been the one I would have picked up had I been there.

Anyway, here’s looking forward to ITB in Berlin.

Thanks for the overview of CEC, it sounds like Jamie put a great program together. I was able to attend the first CEC, and I am happy to hear that TIAC has continued the focus on strategies for the Canadian tourism industry.

Many thanks Anna – strangely enough a couple of people asked me if I knew you when I was in Toronto last week, but I don’t believe we have ever met!

I won’t be at the event in Amsterdam (hopefully next year) but plan to be at PhoCusWright at ITB. I look forward to our paths crossing!
