I’m interested though in the talk you attended though – what kind of techniques were mentioned as being part of the marketing of these places?

I recently had a talk from someone at my University about marketing countries such as those in ‘the axis of evil’. He specifically talked about Iran. It was rather interesting. Some of the pictures he showed us looked as far away from Iran as you could possibly imagine. Aparently they have great honey there to. Did you ask them about the honey? In fact they probably told you about it…

I think that’s a really interesting point about attracting foreign currency. Makes me wish I had visited the Iceland stand to see if your theory holds true!

Yes, it would be nice to have the benefit of the weak currency…but you’ll probably get troublesome Scots going and spending hard-earned Scottish pounds in Blackpool as well and mitigating the effect a little!

I wonder if the effort going in is proportional to the need for foreign currency. Zimbabwe and Cuba desperate for it, China and Iran rather less so…

I’m hoping for the cheap pound to bring lots of lovely US dollars into Scotland; and wouldn’t be sorry to see lots of lovely *English* pounds coming here rather than going to Spain.
