Many thanks Fabienne - I am looking forward to a day of blogging from the Tourism Innovation Day today! I genuinely believe more businesses would benefit from getting over the fear of what people are saying on Tripadvisor, and pull it in to thier site to celebrate positive word of mouth if they are achieving it.

Hello Vicky,

Thank you for an excellent post for our industry! I am a fervent admirer of your blog.

I wasn't aware of BuzzMonitor and will also check managingnews.com.

Here in Australia TripAdvisor is one of the most well-known tool. Their owner-RSS feed possibility is excellent and I am sure many B&B owners would like to be able to maximise their exposure by pulling it into their site.

I myself use Google Alerts as well as it is just so easy and comes straight to my mailbox. In this world of information-overload (they have an ad here in Australia saying that a 7 year old kid has now been exposed to the same amount of information that an 80 year old one generation ago) it is just what I need!

Looking forward to your next post!

Vicky,

Seems the buzzmonitor team will launch soon a new tool

see http://www.managingnews.com/

they say "Managing News, a tool that helps you track and analyze social and mainstream media, and then collaborate and act on it."

smart guys :-)

Could talk about this needs and a tourism tool with other bloggers at ITB

Great tools need great human brain, isn't it !

Thanks for those suggestions Claude. I'm off to check out wikio now as I don't know it.

I agree regards the Open Source app for the tourism industry, but I don't think it would take too much customization to tweak something like BuzzMonitor (which is itself based on Drupal).

I've seen the World Bank's BuzzMonitor in action and I think it comes very close to what the industry needs, because they're taking a global, multi-language view, then breaking that down into specific levels of priviledges so that people only see that part of the information that they need to see.

When I saw Pierre talk about this in Washington last year, he also mentioned that they were working with a company to try and automate the process of understanding to what extent the thrust of comments were positive and negative.

Perhaps Pierre will comment if the BuzzMonitor finds this thread!

Thanks again for sharing your thoughts Claude!

I agree, user reviews and travel 2.0 realities take time, money and knowledge to manage.

I use this tools:

Google, Google reader and Google blog search

http://www.sphere.com
A blog search engine, userfriendly but lack of content at this time

Technorati

This aggregator:

http://digg.com/
and
http://www.wikio.com/ (great tool)

Thanks for the info about BuzzMonitor

Could be cool if we had a special Open Source application for the tourism industry ;-)

Best regards from France
